Buy Boxes and Packing Supplies From the Removal Experts
19 August 2014
Buying your packing materials may well seem like it is a bit of a mindless exercise, but with the costs of a move mounting rapidly as you get on with it, you will likely be looking to save as much cash as possible, whilst also worrying about your materials being good enough for the job. Buying boxes and packing materials from your removals company will mean that you know that you are getting a good deal, because the boxes are the preference of the movers, so they must be good. It is worth looking up the price of said boxes elsewhere however, to make sure that you are getting a good price for them. Most companies will offer their boxes at a reduced trade price, but you should not rely on this being the case, as otherwise you could well miss out on some savings. Knowing that the boxes that you are using for your packing are the same that your removals company prefer is a great start to getting your move going in a safe and efficient manner. There are a few different things to think about with regards to packing and making sure that you are on the right track, so let’s have a look at different ways that you can make your packing process more efficient.
For a start, why pack at all? You could get your removals company to do the whole job for you, and even unpack at the other end! The extra cost of a removals service that includes packing can be too much for many to stomach, but if you need to work during the time that you would be packing, or if you have young children then a packing service can be the type of thing that makes everything that little bit easier and can be well worth the money. Some companies will only insure items that have been packed up by their company, so that they know that everything has been done to protect items within the boxes. Whilst this does mean that they are protected against your potentially sloppy packing work, it also means that you are forced to take out a packing service, or to be uninsured, which is a large risk. If this is a position that you find yourself in, then consult the company and see if they have any advice on the matter.
When packing yourself, you should make sure that you are well equipped. Sure, you will likely have bought all that you need, but be aware that things like packing tape will always run out exactly when you do not want them to! Buying more than you expect that you will need will mean that you are never in this position, and if you have some left over, then you can always use it around the house. If you buy too many boxes, then they can easily be sold on for a reduced rate to others who may be looking for a couple of boxes for their move, so have a look in the Internet at the kinds of prices that others are getting for their left overs. Having the right tools will also help. Do not let yourself be tearing tape with your teeth all day, get a utility knife, or even better, a packing tape dispenser, that will roll out your tape to a perfect point and then cut it off neatly, avoiding you struggling with the stuff and getting it all stuck to itself!
