Use and reuse your clothes and cartons

Use and reuse your clothes and cartons

Here follows some tips on how you can use old orange peel or create clever solutions out of things that you normally would throw away. Here comes a list.

Annual Subscriptions – Do you subscribe to a newspaper? Do you know anyone else who is? Switch papers with each other once a month so that you get two papers for half the price.

Bunks – Do you have children at home who sleep in bunk beds? Bicycle racks are a great solution to the problem of storage of books and cuddly toys that the child who lulls in the top bunk may need. As good as if you are on a cycling holiday and staying at the hostel for example the bike basket can used for books and other things when you are sleeping in the upper bed.

Faded and frayed jeans – Never throw away washed and worn out jeans. It is almost always modern in a way or another. Jeans never go out of style. Cut out patches to fix newer jeans or cut them into summer shorts, or maybe even sew a bag or cut them into patches and save to make a patchwork.
New crochet curtain – Do you have a lot of old small crochet cloths at home? Sew it into a line and use as cafe curtains in the kitchen. Super cute!
Order in the sock box – Use old shoe boxes and put it down your sock drawer. Sort by color, making it easier to find and sort after washing.
Pot paws – Have you got big cache pots that scratches the window frame if you move them? Maybe you have large pots that are a bit difficult to move. Put pads on to them – you know, those you put under couches, beds and chairs – so that they can more easily be pushed aside without scratching the floor.

Shells and beautiful stones – Are you one of those who brings home half the beach when you’re on holiday? Add shells and pretty rocks at the top of your flower pots. It both looks great and it keeps the plants moist for a longer time.

Soft Waffles – Have you baked a load of waffles that has started to soften? They quickly become crispy again if you put them in the toaster for a minute.

Tin cans – Old cans in steel can be used for much. But do you have a big tin can that used to contain olive oil perhaps and has a beautiful pattern or motif? It can be used as a plant keeper or to put a bouquet of flowers in?

Wool Sweater Pillow – If you have a nice knitted old sweater that you no longer use it can become a new stylish modern pillow that you can use on your bed, in your car or on the couch. All you have to do is to get an inner cushion. Use the front and back of the shirt, weave the edges and sew the pillow with wool yarn in the same color as the shirt. Voila.

Egg cartons – Are you going to seed new little plants? You do not need to buy expensive small peat pots every time. Instead, save your egg cartons, fill it with fine seed compost and place your seeds in it. Place the cartons on a plastic tray and cover with newsprint for the first week while the seeds germinate, showering regularly throughout the growing season with water from a spray bottle.
