Depending on the size of your move, you might want to try and get everything done yourself. Sometimes this can be preferable, but having professionals on hand can often be advisable too. If you are considering your options for your LE1 move but aren’t sure whether to handle the move yourself or hire a local removal company, then below are some pros and cons of a DIY move vs. a LE1 removal company.

Advantages of a DIY move

Firstly, as you’ll be doing everything yourself, you will be able to make potential savings on packing materials, and if you’re move is only a short distance, hiring a van might work out cheaper than a removal company. You will also have the peace of mind that everything will be packed by you, and you know what items are delicate, and what to look after. You can also run to your own schedule, so won’t have to worry too much if things don’t go exactly as planned, as you won’t have to contact any movers to rearrange etc.

Disadvantages of a DIY move

Depending on how far your move is, it may be unrealistic to expect yourself to have to drive for a few hours or more as well as dealing with everything else. This, coupled with the fact you will have to pack load and unload everything yourself as well, not to mention all the other tasks that go with moving home such as setting up a forwarding address, contacting utility suppliers, getting a moving budget in place and so on, might leave you overwhelmed and make the whole move LE1 more stressful than necessary. That said, if you are organised and plan well, most of this can be easily dealt with. Another disadvantage is that you will probably need to get help loading your van with the heavier and more bulky pieces of furniture, which can be very tiring.

Advantages of an removal company LE1

One of the main, and obvious, advantages is the fact that you won’t have to load, drive and unload all your goods when relocating. Again, how much you will benefit from this will depend on the size and distance of your relocation. For a long distance more, or any relocation where you have a lot of items to transport, a removal company will be great value for money. You can often get additional services from your removal company too, whether local to LE1 or national, which include things like storage and packing services. Utilising these additional services can help take the pressure off and prove cost effective dependent on your moving requirements.

Disadvantages of an LE1 removal company

Hiring a moving company may not be worth the cost if you are moving a fairly short distance and expect to be able to make the journey in no more than a few hours. A removal company will charge by the day, regardless of where you need your items transported, so will not be very cost effective for a short distance move. Also, if you have less than one vans’s worth of goods, you may be better off doing the move yourself and getting friends or family to help out, as this will be a lot cheaper.

As outlined above, there are advantages to both options when moving, but these advantages are largely dependent on the specifics of your move. Make sure you consider what your requirements are before spending money hiring a company you might not need, or trying a large long distance move without one.
